Victoria Seed Library

Lifecycles Victoria Seed Library Project Logo

In partnership with the Greater Victoria Public Library (GVPL), we are proud to offer seed-saving education and access to a wide variety of seeds! Our library hosts over 200 varieties, most of which are relatively easy for beginner seed savers to grow and save. The collection is housed at the GVPL and includes a variety of vegetable, flower, herb, and native plant seeds.

What is a Seed Library?

What seed Libraries Do?

Seed libraries collect and distribute a diverse range of seeds. By saving and sharing seeds, we help protect and strengthen biodiversity in our region, while developing locally adapted seed stocks and ensuring equitable access to seeds for all.

Our collection

Our seeds are relatively easy for beginner seed savers to grow and save. The collection is housed at the GVPL and includes a large variety of vegetable, flower, herb, and native plant seeds. The seed library also provides free educational resources about seed saving and gardening!

Why it matters

Seeds are the foundation of every food system. Our seed library aims to honour the knowledge carried within seeds and the communities that steward them. By working together, we keep locally adapted, climate-resilient seeds in the hands of the people.
