Want to get your fruit tree picked?
You can sign up as a Tree Steward on the Gleaning Hub if you’d like us to pick your fruit! And also learn about which fruits we pick from our picking guideline.
What does the process look like?
Tree Registration
Tree Stewards (tree owners) register their trees on the Gleaning Hub with info about their property and trees.
Request a Pick
Once registered, the Steward can request to have their trees picked by our volunteer team.
Tree Assessment
Staff reviews each request. A Tree Assessor may visit to evaluate ripeness and yield. Learn more about Picking Guidelines ↗
Harvest
A Harvest Leader books the outing. Volunteer Fruit Pickers join, and the Steward is notified of the scheduled pick.
Redistribution
Harvest Leader, Fruit Pickers, and Steward take their share. The remainder returns to LifeCycles for the community.
Please consider donating as a Tree Steward
While a donation is not strictly necessary as a tree steward, please consider Lifecycles’ costs – equipment, staffing, van upkeep, gas, warehouse space etc. as part of your thought process when deciding to donate.Rex Welland’s legacy and how the orchard became a public space. At Lifecycles, we recognize that the financial situations of our community members differ greatly.
Therefore, we do not want to set a universal standard for contributions. The Embracing Equity Sliding Scale pictured below is a useful tool to gauge an appropriate contribution based on individual ability. As we dedicate ourselves to creating a more equitable structure within the Lifecycles community, we encourage those identifying more closely to the full bottle to share what they feel they can.
- Full bottle: $100+
- Half Bottle: $50 – $100
