What Happens to the Fruit We Pick

Our community sharing model flips the standard market arrangement, ensuring that the highest quality fruit is given away to the community. Everyone who participates in the harvest shares in the bounty. Tree stewards and volunteers can take up to 25%. Program participates further share with their friends, family, and neighbours.

Circular graphic titled "We pick and sort fruit 4 ways" showing the four shares of each harvest: to tree owners, to volunteers, to community, and for processing.

In 2025, 64,674 lbs of fruit was picked and redistributed

Community partners we work with

The majority of the fruit we pick, once sorted by our volunteers, is redistributed to the community.

Through The Mustard Seed’s Food Security Distribution Centre, the fruit reaches 75+ agencies serving Greater Victoria.

Buy our locally made products

Fruit better suited for processing becomes unique artisan products. Backyard Blend hard cider (with Spinnaker’s Brewing), small-batch jams, and pressed apple juice are available on our store and the South Island Farm Hub.

All proceeds help to fund the harvest.
