LifeCycles to the Rescue!

Due to urban development and widespread use of chemical pesticides, it has been very difficult for my family to find safe habitat on Vancouver Island. Since we can't find anywhere to lay our eggs, our population numbers are getting smaller. This makes it impossible for us to do all of the pollinating work that needs to get done. Just when I saw a pollination crisis on its way, and started to fear the worst for my kind, LifeCycles came to the rescue!

LifeCycles is a youth-driven, nonprofit society dedicated to food security and urban sustainability. Three of their projects help to teach people about creating healthy bee habitat so that we pollinators can continue doing our work. The Maintaining a Bee Average project was created to take on this challenge by raising awareness about native bees, promoting pesticide-free gardening, and building bee-friendly garden sites in our communities. Growing Schools and the Fruit Tree Project are two other important projects that educate children and fruit tree owners about the vital connection between bees and food production.
