The Fruit Tree Project

One of the main reasons that I love living in Victoria is that there are fruit trees everywhere you look. Pollinators love apple trees because they have so many pretty blossoms to collect pollen and nectar from. Fruit trees depend on the work of busy pollinators so that each blossom can produce a piece of fruit.

On average, one female blue orchard mason bee will visit 2000 blossoms a day. Your fruit trees would love the help!

Trees and bees have a wonderful friendship! The Fruit Tree Project strengthens this relationship by spreading the word on pesticide-free gardening for healthier fruit, bees, and trees!

The project also helps out community members by picking excess fruit from our neighbourhood trees and giving it to people who are in need of food. In 2001, they picked approximately 15,000 pounds of fruit from our local trees.

Fruit tree owners like having their apples picked for them, and enjoy learning about how bees can help produce happier, healthier fruit.
